Four persons have been killed and property burnt following a communal clash between two villages, Oyofo and Awha in Ezeagu Local Government of Enugu State.
The communal clash which occured on Friday and which is said to be as a result of land ownership dispute, left four persons (males) dead, one tricycle and five motorcycles, burnt.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe (DSP), who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said 12 persons have already been arrested in connection with the clash and murder of the victims.
Ndukwe disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, has ordered the deployment of Police Operatives to the affected villages to restore peace.
He said, "The CommissionIer of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has ordered the deployment of Police Operatives to Oyofo and Awha villages in Ezeagu Local Government Area, following the communal clash between the villages on 11/08/2023 at about 10am.
"The deployment is to maintain the normalcy already restored in the area after the clash, which led to the murder of four males and the burning of one tricycle and five motorcycles.
"Twelve male suspects have been arrested in connection with the clash and murder of the victims, while preliminary investigation shows that the clash is a result of land ownership dispute between the villages."
The Police image maker promised to communicate further development on the incident.
