Ace Broadcaster Jika Attoh is dead

Veteran broadcaster and radio guru, Jika Attoh is dead.


The golden voice on radio, Attoh was reported to have died at POSH Hospital, New Haven, Enugu on Wednesday.


His demise was announced by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Enugu Council.


The popular seasoned broadcast administrator and journalism trainer was until his death, the Executive Director, West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy (WABMA), Enugu, Nigeria.


The Onitsha-born broadcaster became famous as the pioneer anchor of the award winning television interview programme, AIT flagship programme, Kakaakị morning show in the 90s.


Attoh who was in his 60s before his demise, later moved to Enugu with the establishment of the defunct 105.5 Cosmo FM radio Station owned by former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, and became the pioneer General Manager. 105.5 Cosmo FM also became the first radio Station to run 24 hours services East of the Niger.


He was also the Chief Executive Officer for Blaze 91.5 FM located in Oraifite, Anambra State and owned by Sir Emeka Offor.


Attoh was also former Managing Director, Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) Radio and Television.


He was Executive Director at the Lagoni Broadcast System, in 2010, where he offered broadcast content, training and marketing.


Jika who trained seasoned broadcasters on radio and television, was also a former news editor and newscaster at Channels Television.


He was a fellow of Reuter Foundation on Cross-Cultural Communication at the University of Oxford and also holds Master's degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
