Barely 18 years after losing power to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, major stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have decided to forgo personal interests to ensure that the party returns to power in the state’s 2025 Governorship election.

A member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) from Anambar state, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, who disclosed the resolve of the stakeholders to newsmen in Enugu at the weekend, said PDP in the state was putting its house in order to ensure that it bounces back as the party of the state and for victory in the next state governorship election next year.

Okeke known as Enyioha, whose membership of PDP BoT was ratified recently at the 76th meeting of the Board, assured PDP faithful and Ndi Anambra, that the good old times would be back soon as PDP would reclaim Anambra state government House in 2025.

He said, “Anambra state is a major stronghold of PDP. The tactics of opposing parties had been to first instigate division within PDP and subsequently use PDP structure to defeat PDP in the election.

But that is a thing of the past now. Our major stakeholders have basically agreed that there's need to maintain peace within the party for successes to be recorded and we are working together in the overall interest of the party and Ndi Anambra.”

The PDP chieftain praised the National leadership of the party for its decision to introduce those he described as, new faces that are young and vibrant, to lead the party in Anambra state noting, “You can see what is happening in Anambra today.

The remodeling of PDP is on course and the narrative is changing. The determination of the new State Chairman and his team to incubate a positive change, bringing something new to the electorates is glaring. The zeal is infectious and I can tell you that PDP is back to the frontline of Anambra politics.

“I believe that the new State Chairman and his team will continue to enjoy the support of critical stakeholders as long as the current momentum is maintained.”
