The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2021 election in Anambra State, Chief Valentine Ozigbo, has said that the victory of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2025 Anambra governorship election would water the ground for the 2027 presidential election in the country.
Speaking during a reception for the member representing Ogbaru federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Afam Ogene, Ozigbo, who is believed to be nurturing governorship ambition on the platform of LP, tasked the people to prepare seriously for the 2025 poll as it would serve as the icing on the 2027 presidential election.
He said that LP has been properly positioned to take over the state and commended the lawmakers elected on the platform of the party for their quality representation at all levels.
He informed the people of Ogbaru that their representative is doing and commended them for sending the right person to the national assembly.
"Afam Ogene is doing well in the National Assembly. We are proud of our ( LP) lawmakers. 2025 is around the corner when LP will take over Anambra State and then we will prepare for the big one in 2027", he said.
The representative of the Speaker of House of Representatives at the ceremony, Prof Sunday Nnamchi, who is representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency of Enugu State on the LP platform, hailed Ogbaru people for giving Ogene the mandate to represent them.
He said:" "Ogene is our caucus leader; he is experienced and also a capable hand. His capacity is enough to lead us to the el-dorado".
He said that although LP is in the opposition because of its limited number in the green chamber, the lawmakers elected on its platform have been building bridges of understanding.
"Our constituents are happy with us. Labour is a movement of the people and not just a political party."
"The future of LP has no dent at all. We started from nothing and we are somewhere. Now that we have a platform for large support, the sky is not even our limit," he said.
On the crisis rocking LP, Nnamchi described it as part of party politics. "You always see some gimmicks here and there, maybe within or outside the party and it's all politics", the lawmaker added.
