The Anambra State Ministry of Health has busted an illegal factory producing fake exotic drinks.
Working in collaboration with a state paramilitary agency , Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA, Brigade, officials of the ministry arrested seven persons at Nkpor, near Onitsha and sealed off the factory.
The fake wine company was said to have been in existence for over ten years, producing and distributing various types of fake and unapproved wines in large quantities for general consumption.
A statement by the ministry of health said the operation was led by the presidential taskforce in collaboration with Anambra State government against economic sabotage and oil vandalism in the state.
The statement said in part: "Seven suspects were arrested and others are being questioned to unravel other syndicates that have contributed to high circulation of fake products which have caused numerous ailments amongst Anambra people.
The suspects have been arraigned and will face prosecution, as more efforts are in place to arrest others."
