The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam has directed police officers in the state to advance a strategy of community policing principles anchored on mutual trust, understanding, and partnership with the public.
Taking briefs from the eight Area Commanders, fifty-three Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and Sectional Heads of the command in Anambra State during a meeting at the state police headquarters in Awka, Itam noted that doing so would help in enhancing safety and maintaining public order.
He warned that the command under his watch would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct by police personnel and emphasized the need for the officers to show competence, good character and courage in the discharge of their duties.
The CP added that his administration is poised to operate an all-inclusive policing system to hear from everyone and anyone who wants to help the police as an institution, especially by giving information that would guide in taking informed decisions.
He also reviewed the state's policing plan and provided a guide on personnel positioning that would be timely responsive in addressing the security service request of Anambra people.
Welcoming the new CP to the state, the officers promised to discharge their duties diligently.
