The former Commissioner for Finance in Anambra State, Mr. Ifeatu Onejeme, whose resignation from the cabinet of Governor Chukwuma Soludo caused a stir in the state last week, has declared that he has no problem with the governor.
Onejeme, who served for eight years in the administration of former Governor Willie Obiano, was retained by his successor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo. However, he resigned from the state executive council last week and the governor immediately accepted his resignation.
Since that development, there had been insinuations from various quarters that the resignation was due to a misunderstanding with the governor on issues bordering on state policy.
But speaking in an interview in Awka, Onejeme insisted that he did not fallout with Governor Soludo, who he described as a visionary and transformational leader.
Onejeme said: "In fact, he is a man I have tremendous respect for and who is a mentor to me. This is a country where people have a sit- tight mentality and they don’t believe that somebody can wake up one day and say, I think I’ve served long enough; let some other persons play their roles.
"They start insinuating that there must be something, like saying that somebody is blocking him or trying to take his job, or that he’s fighting with someone, and so on.
"I want to make it clear that there was nothing like that. I had a good relationship with the governor, a professional relationship."
The former Commissioner, who described himself as a very passionate and committed ambassador of the Soludo administration, said he believes so much in Soludo's Solution Agenda.
He added: "I have been around for almost forty years. People know my track record. So I’m not the typical politician who comes to sell lies.
And that’s why they’re finding it difficult to deal with Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, our governor because he shoots straight.
"He tells you this is what he’s going to do, and he comes out to do it and they don’t like it. They like it when you say you’re going left, meanwhile you’re going right."
