A governorship aspirant for the November 2025 election in Anambra State, Mr. John Nwosu has expressed optimism that the people of the state will make a bold statement with the election as they can no longer condone the rising insecurity, arguing that 'enough is enough'.
Nwosu, who hailed from Nnewi town in Anambra South senatorial zone and aspiring on the platform of the Labour Party, LP, said at a media briefing in Awka, that the mission of his team is to rescue the state before things get out of hand.
He said that if the government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo is doing well, he would not have any business joining the governorship race.
He said: "What is happening in Anambra State is worrisome. Everyday, young people are gunned down and government is not perturbed.
The one that took place at Nibo where many youths were killed happened, happened 30 minutes after we passed the same road. Up till this moment, government has not told us what happened. Also on Thursday last week, some youths were killed at Ifite Awka. Providing security is not rocket science as it is technology driven.
Government’s primary responsibility is the protection of lives and properties. So it’s security first, followed by healthcare, education and economy in that order and as listed in our SHEEEMS governance platform.
It’s all, about service delivery. The incumbent governor, Soludo, promised mountains and delivered molehill. We will not follow that trajectory.
It is surprising that Anambra doesn't have tracking devices and with me at the helm of affairs, there will be a new dawn in the state."
Nwosu observed that what makes the youths to join cult groups is because of unemployment, lamenting that all the industries that dotted Awka some years ago, have all folded.
If you go round the state, there is no development going on. I have gone round the 21 local government areas of the state and discovered that there is enormous work to do and I assure the people that we will not disappoint them," Nwosu stated.
Nwosu said he is committed to serving only one term of four years in respect to the state's zoning arrangement, adding that one tenure is enough for any serious governor to execute his programmes for the state.
