The national coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has described the threat by All Progressives Congress (APC) to withdraw from the forthcoming September 28th local government election in Anambra State as a tactical attempt to avoid defeat.
Obigwe said in a statement on Tuesday that the withdrawal was a clear indication of the party's lack of confidence in winning the election.
"Anambra APC is running away from their already foreseen defeat. Since the emergence of the present leadership of Anambra APC, the party has never won any election in Anambra", he said.
Obigwe recalled a 2017 incident when APC members confessed to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that the party did not exist in Anambra State.
He accused the APC leadership of attempting to cover up the party's weakness by withdrawing from the election.
Obigwe commended the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for its efforts to conduct the election, assuring that the election will proceed as scheduled on September 28th.
