THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra State has accused some of its former leaders of being responsible for the poor performance of the party, saying many of them have been sabotaging the party for the past twenty eight years.

The former state chairman of the party , Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, made the allegation during the handover from the caretaker committee to the newly elected officials of the party in Awka.

"Anambra people love the PDP, but the only problem is that those who call themselves our leaders were going about collecting money from our opponents and working against the party. This development demoralized many members of the party and caused it victories in elections the party ought to have easily wonin the state.

But we are happy the PDP is back in Anambra State to reclaim its rightful position. If you believe in the PDP, believe with one mind. We are now united, focused, and have purposeful, committed leaders to take the party to greater heights."he said.

He urged the newly elected leaders not to disappoint the party faithful, given the overwhelming support from members.

The new chairman of the party, Mr Chidi Chidebe expressed the preparedness of the party to take its rightful position in the state.

To reposition PDP in the state, Chibebe announced the setting up of seven committees ahead of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra state.

Among the committees were those of reconciliation, mobilization, fundraising, publicity, among others.

"These committees have the task of reaching out to stakeholders and the aggrieved members, as well as showcasing the party to the outside world" he said.

He emphasized that none of the committees would be used to witch-hunt anyone, but to understand the challenges faced in the past and find solutions for the future.
