Operatives of Anambra State Police command have arrested two suspected ring leaders of cult groups responsible for the recent killings in Ihiala town in the state.
Security in the area descended to its lowest ebb last week when three persons were gunned down in some villages in the community.
The development forced many residents of the town to relocate to neighbouring villages as police beefed up security in the area.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said a special operation headed by the Police Crack Squad was deployed to Ihiala by the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, to provide security for the people.
Ikenga said the two people arrested were Chitana Oha, 25, alias "kill and bury" and Emmanuel Ifeanyi Okonkwo, 24 years, alias "good and bad".
According to him, both suspects were arrested at their hideout at Okija within the same Ihiala local governments area.
He said that the Commissioner of Police has vowed to end cult related killings in Ihiala same way he stamped out the menace in the capital city of Awka.
He added that the CP has directed the crack squad to go all out against cultists in the state and clip their wings, assuring members of the public that their security will continue to be the top most priority of the command.
