Police operatives in Aguata local government area of Anambra State have rescued an abducted victim and recovered his vehicle, a sky blue Toyota Camry.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the officers responded swiftly when they got the report of the abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata.

He said that during the hot chase by the police team, the kidnappers shoved the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and drove off for escape.

According to him, the officers sustained the trail on the abductors, adding that they had to abandon the vehicle along Umunze road in Orumba South LGA and ran into a nearby bush.

Ikenga added that the operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the hoodlums, explaining that the victim has been debriefed and reunited with his family.

"The Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, while hailing the gallant performance displayed by the operatives had assured that the Police and other security agencies in the state will do everything within the law to ensure they deny criminals the opportunity to foment troubles and re-group anywhere in the state, the PPRO said.
