The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon.Somtochukwu Udeze has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria's first female governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba as she turns 82 years.

In a message to Etiaba on behalf of the state legislature,Udeze recalled that her tenure of one hundred days as governor was impactful, adding that she awarded and completed many road projects, rehabilitated schools and hospitals, cleared backlog of pensions and gratuities and signed the Child Rights Bill into law, thus making Anambra among the first to do so.
He recalled the events that led to Etiaba's emergence as Governor, and how she refused to be sworn in as Governor but later accepted after a passionate appeal to her by the Anambra Leaders of Thought, to save the state from political quagmire.
He also praised her commitment, humility and motherly love which she brought to bear in the discharge of her duties as Governor of Anambra State.
"Dame Virgy's contributions to the growth and development of Anambra State are legendary and I call on other women to emulate her sterling attributes," Udeze said.
The Speaker prayed God to continue to bless and grant her longevity and good health to be able to carry on with her mentorship and service to God and humanity
