By Madu Obi

A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2025 election in Anambra State, Mr. John Nwosu has decried the attack that took place at Nibo in Awka South local government area in which 12 people were killed.

Nwosu, in a statement in Awka, said the rising insecurity in the state is troubling, adding that the state government appears not to know what to do to secure lives and property in the state.

His statement read: "I received with deep sadness, the news of the gory killing of several people in Nibo community in Awka South local government area on Sunday, 20th October, 2024.

As the true story of the gruesome shooting unfolds, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and injured.

This extremely sad and troubling incident underpins the rising level of insecurity in our state. It is simply scary and unacceptable.

Citizens expect government to protect them and for those involved in such a nefarious act to be apprehended and brought to justice immediately.

The government cannot be allowed to be derelict in its responsibility to protect innocent and defenseless citizens and we envisage an expeditious and full investigation of this heinous act with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book."
