The Nigerian Army has made what could be described as a significant breakthrough in addressing insecurity in Anambra State with the arrest of one Sunday Ofordimze Asika, aka Aboy Ekwensu.
A statement released via the Nigerian Army's official social media handle said Asika, known as Ekwensu Anambra, is believed to be a member of a criminal syndicate that has been terrorizing citizens of Mkpologu and Ezinifite communities in Aguta local government area of the state.
Items recovered from the suspect, who has been under surveillance by security agencies, include six cartridges, five machetes, laptop, a vehicle and various charms.
His arrest came on the heels of a recent incident where no fewer than three persons were abducted at Mkpologwu axis of the state.
It was gathered that gunmen invaded the area around 7:30 am and whisked the victims away in their vehicles.
