The remains of the former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju has been laid to rest, with his son, Cheta Mbadinuju lamenting at the graveside that bad narrative against his father traumatized members of the family for 20 years.
Cheta, a lawyer, who described his father as a shining light said: "For the past 20 years, our family felt like there was a cloud over our heads as a result of the bad narrative peddled against our father."
The burial ceremony, which was held in his country home, Uli in Ihiala local government area, was the climax of a three-day state funeral activities for the first Executive Governor of the state in the fourth republic.
In the solemn ceremony, the former Governor was laid to rest after an inter-denominational burial service held in his honour in his country home.
Governor Soludo, in his tribute, said Mbadinuju lived an impactful life and described him as a giant.
While appreciating him for the great strides, Soludo assured that he would sustain the positive legacies of the former governor, as that is the best way of giving him a befitting farewell.
He added that he lived his life in service to others, and he never wavered in his commitment to making the state a better place.
The service was attended by notable personalities, including former Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Patricia Obila.
Others in attendance are Director General, South East Governors' Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the member representing Ihala Federal Constituency, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, Secretary to the State government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu and Chief of Staff to the Governor Mr Ernest Ezeajughi.
Twenty-one gun salute was used to bid farewell to Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju who was Governor of the state between 1999 and 2003.
