The Anambra State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has debunked the statement making the rounds that Governor Chukwuma Soludo would award every worker in the state N20,000 as Christmas bonus, saying what the governor promised labour was N8000 for every worker.
The state chairman of NLC, Comrade ,Hunphery Nwafor, said the additional N12000 is the cash award the governor used to give which started from September.
"What I heard him announce as bonus for Christmas to each worker is N8,000 for Christmas rice."
"We are surprised that the social media has been awash with stories that the governor gifted the workers N20,000 each for Christmas," Nwafor said.
Recall that the press secretary to the governor, Mr. Christian Aburime had during the 2023 Public Service Day celebration held at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, said the governor had promised cash award of N20,000 for the state workforce, in addition to their leave allowance, which had been paid.
