The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has vowed to end the problematic Monday sit- at -home in Anambra State, saying it has deployed its personnel to the banks and other institutions.
The state Commandant of NSCDC, Olatunde Maku said the deployment is to avert any breakdown of law and order, and to encourage citizens to go about their lawful businesses without any form of fear.
In a statement in Awka, Maku said the command would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to properly secure the state.
His statement read: "In line with the statutory functions of NSCDC to protect critical national assets and infrastructure across the federation, we have deployed personnel of the command to all the banking facilities in and around Awka metropolis.
"Protection of lives and property is topmost on the agenda of the state government, hence the deployment of personnel around all critical assets to build the confidence of the public that Mondays sit -at -home has faded away."
People can go about their normal businesses as we have deployed enough manpower to avert any attack on lawful citizens.
"The NSCDC, working with other security agencies, shall remain undaunted in ensuring the security and safety of Anambra residents."
He urged members of the public to avail the command with useful information that will aide the security agencies to effectively maintain the serenity and ensure the protection of lives and property in the state.
