Construction workers at the Light of the Nation Tower site at Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra State, have stumbled on a freshly buried woman's corpse.
Construction in the area began about a year ago and the dualization of the road with the accompanying flyover had affected many buildings.
It was not clear if the corpse was buried in one of the demolished buildings, but a source in the area said that the unearthed corpse appeared to be recently buried, raising questions about the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding her death.
The husband of the woman was said to have passed on about five years ago, although details of other members of her family were not given.
A large crowd who gathered at the scene on Saturday expressed shock at the discovery.
Officials of the construction company declined to comment on the discovery, although community leaders in the area had been informed.
The state police command is yet to speak on the matter as it was not clear if an official report had been made to it.
