Residents of Onitsha cried and wailed uncontrollably on Sunday as the corpse of ABK Offiah, an aide to the Anambra State Commissioner for Youths Development, Hon Patrick Aghamba, who was killed by gunmen on his way to Abuja on Friday, was brought back to the commercial city.
Offiah, a lawyer, who hailed from Onitsha and holds the traditional title of Kpajiego, is a youth leader in the ancient town.
Many people who were still in their various churches ran out of places of worship when they heard the siren of the ambulance that brought his body home.
In a trending video, many people were seen crying profusely and cursing those responsible for the death of the young legal practitioner.
The Late Offiah and the Aghambas were traveling in a Sienna bus when the gunmen shot and killed him along the Edo- Kogi road and kidnapped the Commissioner and his wife.
They were on their way to the federal capital to attend the wedding ceremony of Governor Chukwuma Soludo's daughter, Adaora who is also married to an indigene of Onitsha.
Aghamba and his wife had since regained their freedom as they were released on Saturday night.
