One Obinna Orazue has bagged 90 days prison sentence in Anambra State for impersonating a lawyer and falsely claiming to be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Orazue was arrested on June 13, 2024, at a court in Otuocha, Anambra East local government area while attempting to defend a client.
During his trial, Orazue admitted that he studied political science in university and not law.
It was gathered that he had been posing as a licensed legal practitioner before his arrest.
He pleaded for leniency during his trial, stating that he has five children and an unemployed wife which was the reason he had to impersonate a lawyer.
Although he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, he was found guilty of impersonation and sentenced him to 90 days in prison.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association has commended the court's decision, stating that it will continue to work to protect the integrity of the legal profession.
