The kidnapped member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Justice Azuka has been confirmed dead. Azuka, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, LP, was kidnapped on December 24, 2024 along Ugwunabakpa road, Inland Town, Onitsha on his way home.
A combined security team found the decomposing corpse of Hon Azuka at the 2nd Niger Bridge in the early hours of Thursday.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident said: "In the early hours of today, 6/2/2025 at the Second Niger Bridge, the joint security team comprising the Police and AVG Operatives, on a mission to rescue abducted Hon. Azuka, Honourable member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North, regrettably found his lifeless body at the scene.
"I will keep you updated as soon as I get more details, as the joint security team has taken over the scene and operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspects involved."
The police also said that the culprits that kidnapped and killed him have been arrested, adding that they were the people that showed the security men where they dumped the corpse of the lawmaker.
