The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has urged journalists not to relent in their contributions towards deepening the country's democracy.
Obi, who spoke through his media adviser, Valentine Obienyem during a meeting of the Correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Awka, also called on media practitioners to always uphold professional ethics for the benefit of society.
He recalled how members of the chapel, and other journalists in the state assisted his administration when he was the governor of the state and pledged continuous support to the media in the state.
The chairman of the Anambra State Correspondents Chapel, Chief Chuks Ilozue, commended the former governor for his commitment in the affairs of journalists in the state, particularly members of the Correspondents chapel.
The chairman appreciated the cordial working relationship that existed between members of the chapel and the Peter Obi government, stating that the chapel would continue to maintain that cordiality.
At the meeting, strategic decisions were taken by chapel on responsible reporting, especially as the 2025 governorship election in the state approaches.
