The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has warned against eating breakfast early, saying that doing so shoots up blood sugar levels, and potentially leads to weight gain and health issues.
Speaking during a health week programme in Awka, Obidike however exempted individuals on medication, advising them to follow their doctors' dietary instructions.
The programme was part of the weekly physical fitness initiative put together by the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo.
He also encouraged people to develop personalized eating plans, including intermittent fasting or skipping meals, depending on their individual capacity.
According to him, hormones like glucagon and cortisol release store glucose into the system and provide enough energy to last till mid-day.
