The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has begun the training of 150 youths for table-fish production.
The eight -week training is taking place in Anambra State and ECOWAS has set aside about N60 million for the project.
The Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Fisheries and Aquaculture Business Development Agency (FABDA), Mr. Emeka Iloghalu, who doubles as the programme coordinator in the state, said the trainees were drawn from Kaduna, Cross River, Enugu, Imo and Anambra.
Iloghalu said the beneficiaries, who are between the ages of 15 and 35 years, would be trained on business development and entrepreneurship.
"The programme is being sponsored by the ECOWAS and it is currently ongoing across 15 member countries."
"I call on unemployed youths in the state and country to key into the programme for self-reliance," he said.
Iloghalu expressed the hope that at the end of the training, the successful trainees would emerge business leaders in their own right.
