Eid-El-Maulud: Anambra speaker preaches religious tolerance

The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze has called on Nigerians to embrace love, unity and peaceful coexistence irrespective of their religious inclinations.


In a message to mark this year's Eid-El-Maulud, Udeze enjoined Muslim leaders to always uphold those values and practices that create harmony, growth and development of the country.


The speaker, who commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing an enabling environment for the Muslim community in Anambra State to propagate their faith and earn their living.


He also charged them to join hands with the Governor to promote peace and security, as well as generate maximum support for the state government.


According to him, both Islam and Christianity condemn violence, and therefore advised that Muslims should use this occasion of Eid-El-Maulud to shun vices as nepotism, religious bigotry and other divisible and negative threats.


He also urged them to make the overall development of Nigeria and happiness of the masses their utmost priority.
