The family of Izuogu from Ezi Orsu community in Oguta local government area of Imo State has cried out over continued missing of its 20 -year old son, Mazuwa Izuogu, several months after he was abducted in the community.
A member of the family, Samson Izuogu said in a statement in Awka on Tuesday that his people are worried that their son might have been killed by his abductors, adding that all efforts to contact those who kidnapped him had proved abortive.
He said that when Maruwa's father, Henry Izuogu became worried and went into the bush to look for him, he too was detained for six days and then released when the hoodlums he saw in the thick forest discovered that he was very sick.
He said that up till now, those holding their brother have not demanded any ransom, which, he added, was the reason the family is much more disturbed that he might no longer be alive.
Samson izuogu said: "When Maruwa was kidnapped, we thought that the kidnappers were going to demand for ransom so they could release him, but they didn't do that.
After some months of waiting for his return and nothing happened, his father decided to go in search of his son because he felt that his son might have been killed.
Surprisingly, the abductors also detained him in the bush for about six days during which they neither gave him food, nor water.
Sensing that he might die, they released him and he had to be hospitalized for weeks. We suspect that Maruwa might have died, but we are yet to find his body.
Our people have been combing all the bushes in Ezi Orsu in search of his body without success and this has devastated the entire family."
He called on the government of Imo State and security operatives to intervene in the matter as the family has exhausted its resources in search of Maruwa's body.
