Wednesday, September 27, has been declared as public holiday by the Federal Government in commemoration of Eil-ul- Maulid celebration.
Eil-ul- Maulid celebration signifies the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in Muslim religion.
Announcing the holiday in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, on his behalf of the Minister, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister congratulated Muslims for witnessing this year’s occasion.
He admonished them to "imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him ) exemplified."
The Minister used the opportunity to urge Nigerian youths to embrace hard work and peaceful dispositions to fellow citizens irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity.
