Awka- TWO children were drowned in the flood as a result of heavy rain in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The incident happened at the weekend, killed two children in different at Nkwele, Awka South local government of the state.
It was gathered that one of the deceased was swept away by the flood while disposing refuse on the flood channel, while the other was flushed by the flood while trying to rescue his slippers which was carried away by the flood.
According to a neighbour in the area, ,the mother had sent the girl on an errand to go and dispose their waste when she was caught up by the flood and fell inside the drainage.
“She was pouring the waste inside the drainage when her leg suddenly slipped and she fell and was carried away by the heavy flood", he said.
