The first civilian governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife has passed on .
A member of the family, Rob Ezeife made the announcement in a statement.
His statement reads: "On behalf of the Ezeife Dynasty of Igbo-Ukwu, I wish to announce the promotion to glory of our most distinguished son, Okwadike, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife,CON, a former Federal Permanent Secretary, the first Executive Governor of Anambra State, a former Political Adviser to the President and former Presidential Aspirant.
"This sad event took place yesterday, Thursday, at 6pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.
"More details about the deceased and the arrangements for his State Burial will be announced later."
Ezeife, a Havard University- trained Economist, was credited to be the brain behind the establishment of Bureau de Change in Nigeria when he was the federal permanent secretary.
The people of Igboukwu, his home town in Aguata local government area of Anambra State said they just received the news of his demise on Friday from the social media.
Some of them said it had taken awhile since the governor was seen in the community.
