The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders, CONYL, the umbrella body of all the youth groups in the South East geopolitical zone has threatened to embark on a protest against the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL over what it described as the indiscriminate hike of fuel price.
Fuel is currently selling at N1300 per litre in most filling stations in the South East and over N1000 in other parts of the country.
President General of the group, Comrade Goodluck Ibem said in a statement that from all indications, the NNPC and cabals in the oil industry are sabotaging the
efforts of President Bola Tinubu's government to make the country better.
His statement read: "The increase in the price of petroleum products most especially fuel, has brought hardship to Nigerians as it has resulted to increase in transportation cost, increase in prices of food, and increase in prices of all goods and services in the country.
The cabal in the oil sector is working assiduously to make President Tinubu's administration look as if he is not performing.
President Tinubu means well for Nigerians, but the activities of the oil cabal and NNPCL are frustrating the effort of the President in making life better for Nigerians.
We, the Nigerian youths, have concluded arrangement and plans to stage a 2 million - man protest march against NNPCL in front of their premises and we will not stop until the entire leadership of the NNPCL is removed for more competent persons to take over for the good of the nation.
This protest march is pertinent for the survival of Nigeria and Nigerians, given the great importance of the oil sector to the growth and development of our nation.
We cannot let a few take us for a ride, hence the urgent need to take our country back from them."
