Suspected gunmen have killed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, 2023 House of Representatives candidate for Ihiala federal constituency of Anambra State, Jude Oguejiofor.

Oguejiofor, a lawyer, hailed from Orsumoghu, one of the communities in Ihiala local government area that have remained the base of the unknown gunmen in the past three years.

Until his death, Oguejiofor lived in Nnewi where he practiced law. The lawyer/ politician was abducted around 1 a.m, some days ago, alongside his brother, a medical doctor by some gunmen at Orsumoghu Community where they had gone to see their aged parents.

The gunmen later released his brother, a medical doctor who recently came back from abroad, unhurt, but decided to kill him based on the allegations of sabotage they levelled against him.

It was gathered that the gunmen accused Mr Oguejiofor of writing petitions against them and their activities in the community to the Anambra State government.

Meanwhile, a source said Mr Oguejiofor’s father fainted and died when the gunmen contacted the family and informed them that they had killed the politician.

The Anambra State Police command could not confirm the incident at press time, although an indigene of the community confirmed it.

He said the incident has heightened the already existing tension in that part of Anambra State and urged security operatives to come to their rescue.
