The Senator representing Anambra North, Dr Tony Nwoye has described the death of Hon Justice Azuka in the kidnappers'hands as the result of growing insecurity in the state.
In his word, Senator Nwoye said Anambra insecurity has cost the state one life too many.
In a condolence message to the late Azuka's family, Nwoye said: "With a heavy heart, on behalf of the good people of Anambra North Senatorial District, I mourn the painful loss of my dear brother, constituent and colleague, Hon. Justice Azuka who was the honorable member representing Onitsha North Constituency 1 at Anambra state house of assembly before he was kidnapped.
"Hon Azuka was humane, humble and honest. He was a bridge-builder, a team player and lived up to his name justice in his personal conduct which exemplifies fairness.
He will be sorely missed by the grassroot Labour Party family for he was down to earth party man. It is so disheartening and devastating to learn that a combined security team found his decomposing corpse at 2nd Niger Bridge Onitsha after more than one month of his being kidnapped since the 24th December, 2024 along Ugwunabakpa road Inland town Onitsha.
What a sad way to cut short a young, enterprising and most promising life! Such heart rending tragedy!
Our condolences and heart-felt sympathy to Hon Azuka’s family, the traditional ruler of Onitsha, HRH Igwe Dr Alfred Achebe(the Obi of Onitsha), and the entire people of Onitsha North Constituency 1."
Nwoye said the greatest respect that could be paid to the lives of the numerous citizens who get caught up in this disarray is to join hands as a people to put a stop to this menace that is proving an existential threat to Anambra State.
