Members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), Anambra State command, have discovered kidnappers' den inside Anam forest in Anambra West local government area of the state.
The Deputy Commander-General of the service, Dr. John Metchie said that acting on intelligence, an operation was carried out in the forest during which an abandoned Toyota Sienna vehicle and other weapons of mass destruction, including a pistol, one AK47 rifle, locally fabricated guns, assorted vehicle plate numbers, charms and other incriminating items were found.
He described hunters as a key component in the nation's security architecture and urged the Nigerian government to give hunters their due recognition in the country.
According to him, the NHFSS is still on trail of the suspected kidnappers who abandoned the vehicle and other items found in the forest.
He said that the vehicle and other items discovered in the forest have equally been handed over to the Area Command of the Nigeria Police in the area for further action.
