The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Imo governorship election held on Saturday.
According to the result announced on Sunday, Uzodimma in the won in all the 27 Local Governments of the state.
In the result announced by the State Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, Uzodimma scored a total of 540, 308 to sweep the polls.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, got a total of 71, 503 votes across the state to come a distant second while the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Athan Achonu, garnered a total of 64, 081 votes.
Meanwhile, the PDP and the LP have called for a total cancellation of the poll,
alleging that security agents allegedly connived with INEC staff to allow members of the APC to rig the election.
The result also shows that Tony Ejiogu of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), scored 6,392 votes while Jack Ogunewe of AA got 5,756 votes.
