As the world marks the International Women's Day, Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, have congratulated all women in Nigeria, saying they deserve to be celebrated.

Expressing sense of immense pride in the phenomenal women of Anambra State and, indeed, Nigeria, Governor Soludo commended their outstanding impacts as builders of society.

Soludo said: “Your impact is undeniable. You are the indomitable spirit that drives our families, businesses and communities forward. You are the educators, the entrepreneurs, the innovators, the builders – the very foundation of our society. Today, and every day, we celebrate you."

"This year’s theme, 'Inspire Inclusion,' resonates deeply as it is a call to action and a reminder that true progress comes when we all work together, men and women, side by side."

"In Anambra, we are committed to ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential. That’s why we keep supporting and investing in initiatives that prioritize maternal healthcare, empower women economically, and champion the education of girls.”

The governor urged the people to continue inspiring and supporting inclusion of women, so as to create an Anambra where every woman can dream big, achieve her goals, and contribute to the greatness of the state.

Also speaking on the celebration, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon.Somtochukwu Udeze extolled the contributions of many notable women in Nigeria to the growth and development of the country and described them as virtuous women.

Udeze called on various lawmaking bodies in the country to accord women their rightful positions with maximum security through legislation.

He described women as veritable instruments for national development and societal reformation, enjoining them to uphold attributes that portray them as virtuous women and shun acts capable of debasing their status.

He commended the wife of the state governor, Mrs.Nonye Soludo for her contributions towards the upliftment of the living condition of the citizenry through her pet project, "Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo."

Udeze called for the abrogation of all obnoxious laws and harmful practices against women, urging governments at all levels to give women a chance to excel in their endeavours by empowering them politically and economically.
