The Managing Director of Solution Smart Estate Limited in Anambra State, Mr. Emeka Onwudinjo has urged Nigerians to emphasize more on buying developed property, rather than acquiring land, as they might find it difficult to realize their ambition to own a house.
Speaking during the first anniversary of Solution Smart Estate in Awka, Onwudinjo said it is better to own an affordable home regardless of the rising cost of building materials in the country.
He said: "Land acquisition is good, but not everyone can save for long number of years to acquire a land and build a home.
We decided to take the responsibility of getting the land and building the house and selling back to the people, including low income earners, on affordable price.
Saving to own a land doesn't give you shelter; it is just the land that most times, the people tend to sell back without achieving their dreams of owing a house."
According to Onwudinjo, Solution Smart Estate has made significant progress of changing the mind -set of Anambra people from land banking system, to owing a home.
He said that his company is currently building 121 housing units to reduce housing deficiency and create a liveable environment in the state.
He lamented that the hike in building materials was creating a serious problem as many developers tend to back down, adding, however, that it would not stop the company from constructing affordable houses for the masses.
Onwudinjo explained that the anniversary was aimed at encouraging people to own homes through the national housing mortgage plan, rather than engage in land acquisition.
The site engineer, Tony Muonyelu said their estates have a fenced perimeter with modern facilities such as tarred road, water supply, electricity, recreation center, clinic and shopping complex.
He said that within one year, they have built many houses across the country and poised to achieve greater things as they were committed to making property ownership dreams come true.
He further advised people to key into owning a home through their own income or pay as they earn through the mortgage scheme.
