The Anambra State Police command has summoned the Presidents General of Enugwu-Ukwu and Nawfia Communities in Njikoka local government area of the state following heightened tension in the area after the gruesome murder of three youths over land dispute.

The three people, who are said to be from Enugwu-Ukwu community, were allegedly lured to the bush where they were killed in the disputed land.

While Enugwu-Ukwu community accused Nawfia community of being responsible for the killing, leaders of Nawfia community have since dissociated themselves from the act.

The Anambra State Police command had in the wake of the killing, vowed to remain neutral and promised to ensure that those responsible were brought to book.No arrest has, however, been made.

Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Tochikwu Ikenga said the command has summoned the PGs of the two communities for discussions aimed at preventing a potential breakdown of law and order in the area.

There were fears on Wednesday that the incident might degenerate to communal war if not handled with care.

Already business activities in the two neighbouring communities have slowed down as most of the people are keeping indoors.

Both Enugwu Ukwu and Nawfia have ancestral relationship as they belong to the Umunri Clan.
