The member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Victor Afam Ogene, has paid fees for 18 students sitting for the National Examinations Council, NECO, in Ogbaru High School, one of the secondary schools in his constituency.
Hon Ogene was said to have yielded to the distress call made by the Principal of the school, Dr. Joy Bosah, about the fate of some students who were interested to register for NECO, 2024 exams , but could not do so due to lack of funds.
Ogene's intervention therefore
saved the situation as the school would have suffered a stringent penalty, which might have led to the closure of the school as NECO examination centre.
An indigene of Ogbaru who spoke on the issue said: "The situation would have taken hard and bottleneck bureaucracy to revalidate if the intervention had not come."
Hon Ogene officially received the letter from the school on the 17th of January, 2024 and responded immediately. This action has saved the school from being penalized and equally offered the students the chance to participate in the NECO examination for 2024.
Indeed, the people of Ogbaru will witness going forward, pragmatic, effective, proactive and quality leadership embedded with people's oriented programmes that will engender human capital development at all levels during Ogene's representation.
Responding on the distress call made by the school, Ogene said: "As a representative who prioritizes the interest, well being and inclusion of all in the development of Ogbaru, my office would not allow Ogbaru to be disadvantaged or suffer in any way under my watch."
"Thus, I'm glad to communicate the willingness of my office to pay the 2024 NECO fees for the affected 18 indigent students in your school as requested".
