Operation Udo ga achi: We're determined to wipe out criminal elements in Anambra - Soludo

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is determined to wipe out criminal elements, who have been killing and kidnapping people in the state.


The governor was reacting to the recent onslaught against hoodlums by the new security outfit codenamed 'Operation Udo Ga Achi' in parts of the state.


He confirmed that in the latest operation at Owerre-Ezukala in Orumba South local government area of the state, about 15 suspected criminals were shot dead by the operatives, while 13 of them were captured alive.


He also spoke on the killing of the state House of Assembly member, Hon Justice Azuka, whose lifeless body was dumped at the 2nd Niger Bridge, Onitsha.


He said: "I have received the sad story of the death of our lawmaker. I want to announce to you that six of them have been arrested, while the native doctor who prepares their charms who lives in Asaba is being traced now. We must liberate Anambra and that we must do


Our security architecture is paying off hugely. This morning, our security operatives invaded a camp in Owerre-Ezukala, and bout 15 gunmen were demobilized and 13 captured alive. We will continue on this lane until Anambra is totally free."


Soludo added: "We are on the last lap now. Kidnapping is lucrative and they are into it because they feel Anambra people can pay.


We are back again and have turned on the gear two, and it is fight to finish. We are ready to clear them off. We are embarking on this security thing at a fundamental level, different from what is happening anywhere else in Nigeria."


Meanwhile, there were reports that some people from the governor's community, Isuofia, were complaining seriously that three of the people killed at Owerre - Ezukala hailed from Isuofia and that they were mistakenly killed by the operatives of the knew security outfit.


In a viral video, the three young men were said to be working at a building site at Owerre-Ezukala when Udo Ga Achi operatives mistook them for kidnappers and gunned them down.


Some angry women were seen in the viral video expressing their outrage as they used the corpses of the three youths to barricade the road opposite the Catholic Church in the community.
