THE Nneka Chidoka Outreach Programme has offered free medical services to over 400 persons in Onitsha, Anambra State.

It was the third edition of the Foundation's medical outreach since it was launched by the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka on behalf of the family in May this year in honor of his mother, Late Mrs Nneka Chidoka.

Head of the medical team of the outreach, Dr Chinonso Nwosu said the objective of the Foundation was to extend quality medical care to the larger society and raise the awareness and consciousness of the deadly scourge of cancer which could be effectively managed if detected early.

Out of the 478 persons that attended the programme, 275 women received free breast and cervical cancer screening, 85 men received free prostrate cancer screening, 186 persons received free eye glasses, while drugs worth millions of naira were distributed to the needy.

Apart from screening, the interventions carried out by the Foundation included treatment of cervical cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and cryotherapy.

The team also embarked on surgical interventions on four hernia patients, ultrasonography, mammography and Xray of the spin among others.

The Foundation had also in July 2023 embarked on massive business support to small businesses in Anambra State in which over 200 women benefited.

Some of the beneficiaries of the medical intervention appreciated the Chidoka Foundation for the gesture. Mr Ojinna Chukwuemeka and and Miss Chisom Madu, while commending the philanthropic gesture of the former Minister of Aviation, appealed to other affluent persons in the society to borrow a leaf from him.

Also speaking, Mrs Chika Okolo who was diagnosed of cervical and breast cancer during a previous medical outreach organized by the Foundation, said she is currently receiving treatment on the bill of Nneka Chidoka Outreach Program which came to her rescue in her time of desperation and hopelessness.

Meanwhile, the Foundation has also carried out the outreach programme in Enugu State in which over 300 patients benefited.
