Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has urged wealthy and successful indigenes of the state to partner with the state government under the Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) to develop the various communities of the state.
Soludo spoke at Nnobi, Idemili South local government area when he commissioned a road and three solar powered boreholes built by a businessman from the community, Chief Hamilton Ezeonu.
The governor also used the opportunity to inspect the Nnobi hospital which the businessman re-roofed and built a standard doctor's quarters.
According to Soludo, developing Anambra communities must be a joint effort between government and the citizens, especially the wealthy individuals from the state.
Soludo said: "You must invest in our communities to invest in our future to secure our children. I adopted a school in my village. I came to celebrate Chief Ezeonu to send a message to all Anambra people.
You may have future leaders, scientists, doctors delivered in this hospital and pass through this road and drink water from the boreholes you sunk. You can't tell how many lives you would have saved.
Even if nobody celebrates you, God will. But that is why we have come to celebrate you. We will take the message to Anambra people. I am happy that Anambra people are responding to the message of partnering with government.
Partnering with rich Anambrarians to develop our communities is a call for action.
Your type is what we want. There is no other purpose in life than service to humanity. Service to others is the only thing we have in life because you have used what you have to aid creation".
The governor assured that with individuals like Ezeonu responding to their calls, his government would reciprocate by tackling the Idemili South ring road in phases.
In his speech, Chief Ezeonu said God, his wife who he described as his rock, and Governor Soludo inspired him to carry out the projects.
He said that Governor Soludo's campaign slogan of turning the state into Taiwan -Dubai impressed him much that he decided to contribute his quota to achieve that purpose.
He said the road was completed within 15 days with solar lightning, drainage and pedestrian path and flowers to beautify it.
He explained that he is planning to bring home 50 Nnobi rich people in June 2025 to discuss how to develop the town, assuring that more projects would soon be executed in the community.
