The alleged sponsor of protests in Awka who accused the police of killing their youths in the name of fighting cultism has been arrested in Abuja.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, who confirmed the arrest, said the man who owns a private security outfit, Blue Shield, was picked up in Abuja on Monday.
According to the CP, the man had serially been accused of land grabbing and sundry offences, including using armed Blue Shield security operatives to intimidate residents.
He was also accused of sponsoring a protest involving nude women in Awka, who were demanding the redeployment of Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Akin Fakorede and one Inspector Monday Umana.
It was gathered that the police trailed the man to Abuja and arrested him there.
Before the arrest, CP Adeoye said the man had earlier been charged to Federal and State High Courts in Awka, but he refused to appear, warranting Adeoye to threat bench warrant against.
