THE Anambra State Police command has confirmed the murder of the President General of Umuoji Community in Idemili North local government area, Chief Silas Onyima.
Details of his murder are still sketchy, although a video of the late PG in the pool of his blood in his house has gone viral.
It was gathered that Onyima was murdered in his Umuobia village, Umuoji on Friday by assailants numbering about 15.
According to a source in the community, his murder might not be unconnected with ongoing crisis in the community over land dispute.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga said the command was already working with the local people to identify the killers.
According to him, the body of the slain community leader has been recovered.
He said: "Yes, I'm aware of the incident. The command has sent operatives there and the body of the PG has been retrieved."
"We are working with the local people to identify the perpetrators of the act, in order to bring them to book.
"Calm has also been restored in the area."
