The Marine unit of the Anambra State Police command has recovered bodies of the three remaining victims of the boat accident involving Nollywood actors who were returning from a movie cast in Anam area of Anambra West local government area of Anambra State.
The incident happened at the Akpaka area of Onitsha and Nsugbe on Wednesday.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said two of the bodies were recovered on Thursday 11th April, 2024, while the third one was washed to the shore by the tide on Friday morning.
Ikenga said all the bodies have been deposited in the hospital mortuary in Asaba, Delta State, while the President of the Guild of Actors of Nigeria has been notified of the recovery.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye has urged all water commuters to be safety conscious and avoid behaviour that might jeopardize their safety and that of others while on transit on water.
While promising to expedite investigation into the sad accident that claimed lives of five actors, he also commended the command’s Marine Unit and its Commander for their dedication to duty.
The CP had on Thursday said that preliminary enquiry had given insight into the cause of the boat mishap that involved a crew of the Nollywood actors.
