The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu has said that the command has stepped up the Police Safe School Initiative; which is a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and security of schools, students, teachers and staff.

The CP, who spoke during visit to some schools in the state, commended the residents and people of Anambra State on the improvement of social and economic activities on Mondays.

He lamented the negative impact of the sit -at -home order and how it had disrupted academic activities, stating that the Police and other security agencies have taken over the streets, especially on Mondays, to sustain safety in the state.

Accompanied by the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hon. Ify Obinabo, Orutugu urged Anambra people to go about their various businesses without fear of molestation on Mondays.

He said that the Police Safe School Initiative focuses on identifying and preventing potential security threats in schools, collaborating with school administrators, parents and local communities to promote safety and security, and offering support and resources to schools to enhance their security measures.

According to the CP, the benefits include enhanced safety and security for students, teachers and staff, reduced incidence of crime and violence in schools, increased confidence among students, parents and school staff, as well as a safer and more secure learning environment conducive to academic excellence.
