The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured the Anambra electorate of free and fair polls on February 3, 2024, saying the Commission is ready for the exercise.
The rerun exercise will take place in two federal constituencies of Nnewi North/ Nnewi South/ Ekwusigo, and Orumba North and South.
Addressing reporters in Awka, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC Dr. Elizabeth Agwu said the commission has already mobilized both human and material resources, including security, to ensure credible polls.
According to Agwu, the rerun would be held at 16 polling units at Nanka (Orumba North local government area) to determine the winner of Orumba North and Orumba South federal constituency, and in five polling units at Nnewi (Nnewi North local government area) to determine the winner of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency.
She explained that the total number of voters in the affected polling units in Nnewi North were 97,438, while that of Orumba North stood at 161,914 voters.
Agwu urged the voters not be compromised, but to vote for the best candidates that can represent them well.
She said: "Do not say you won't vote again because someone is already leading. If you know the candidate you voted for before, it is still the same person that is standing for the election.
Come out to vote for him or her again.
"If you want to vote for another candidate, you are free to do so too. The election is going to be free, fair and credible."
"Nobody will be intimidated.
"There will be enough security. Do not allow anyone to use you as a thug or escape goat. There will be no room for manipulation, vote buying or vote selling."
