Authorities of Decimal Foundation School, Awka, Anambra State, have sent a Save-our-soul, SOS, to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to save them the agony of bad road, lamenting that parents are withdrawing their children from the school due to the dilapidated nature of the road.
The school is located at the Obinagu area in the heart of the state capital.
At its 13th graduation ceremony, the teachers and members of the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, observed that the road leading to the school has become a death trap. According to them, parents who come to either drop or pick their children often experience breakdown of their cars.
Head teacher of the school, Mrs Abadom Vivian said the plea became necessary to save the school from abandonment by frustrated parents and teachers.
The head teacher, who spoke through a four-year-old pupil, Master Azubuike Chimnolu, while commending Governor Soludo for his efforts to transform the state capital, urged him to extend his work to the Obinagu area.
"We make this clarion call on the state government to fix the dilapidated roads in the locality which now constitutes a death trap to both the students, parents and staff of the institution, as well as inhabitants of this part of the capital city," she said.
Abadom also called on members of the school's PTA to help get relevant authorities to tackle the problem.
In his remarks, the PTA chairman, Hon Destiny Jonas, expressed optimism that government would consider their request.
He lauded the high quality of academic and extra-curricula trainings offered by the school and reaffirmed the PTA's continued cooperation to maintain the high standard of the school.
