Enforcers of the Monday sit at home in Nnewi have killed the commander of the town's vigilante outfit, Eloka Ubajekwe and injured many.
A report from the industrial town said that the Nnewi vigilante group reportedly got information that the gunmen were about to enter Nnewi through Nnobi in Idemili South local government area and decided to confront them at the boundary between the two communities.
According to the source, it was at that point that the gunmen shot and killed the commander.
It was also gathered that another shooting incident took place between the sit-at-home enforcers and members of the vigilante group at Nnewichi, near St Peter's Church and left many people injured.
According to an eye witness, many people around the scene of the incident were hit by stray bullets, adding that some of the wounded were carried in wheel barrows to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The Commander of Anambra Vigilante Service in charge of the Anambra South Senatorial zone who doubles as the President General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Dr Maduka Atuenyi, confirmed the incident.
The state Police command was yet to react at the time of filing this report
