Soludo appoints Odinkalu, Bianca Ojukwu, others into Ojukwu Varsity governing council

Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of a governing council for the state-owned Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam.


The council has Professor Chidi Odinkalu, a lawyer, human rights activist and a writer, as Pro Chancellor and chairman of the council.


Odinkalu was also the former chairman of Nigeria's National Human Rights Commission and was recently named the senior team manager for the Africa Programme of Open Society Justice Initiative.


Other members are Chief (Mrs) Ifeoma Ekwueme; wife of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu; Chief Christopher Ndubuisi and His Royal Highness, Oranu Chris Chidume.


A statement by the Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime said the new council was assembled with a focus on excellence, integrity and strategic leadership, assuring that it would provide guidance and oversight for the continued growth and development of the state-owned university.
